I downloaded the zip package that has all the tutorial files for the 3d platformer tutorial and unzipped them. The first time I tried loading them into unity it came up with an error about a corrupt file. So I deleted the folder and re-downloaded the tutorial. Now when I try to open it just gets stuck during the importing assets phase. It will start to load in the assets, but then it gets stuck and just sits there on one. Then I went into task manager and closed otu that task and reopened unity and it pops up with the cannot move file because corrupt error again, but then it will finish loading, but the scene is blank. There are files in the project folder, but the actual scene has nothing in it.
Hate to say it, but the Lerpz 3d Platformer doesn’t upgrade nicely to U3. I just downloaded it, unzipped it, there was no scene to open, so used the open project, selected the 3DPlatformTutorialStart folder as the project folder, let it import all assets, etc, and ended up with nothing but errors.
Yeah, obviously we haven’t posted the updated projects (making them compatible with U3) to the website since Unity 3 hasn’t been released yet… we’re still in beta.
That’s actually the expected behavior. It’s a tutorial that you’re supposed to make yourself so the “TheGame” scene is mostly empty at the beginning except for level geometry and lights.
Mac seems to be better at opening old projects in Unity 3.
Anyway, the OP didn’t specify whether or not he was using Unity 3 or Unity 2.6 so this might be a bit of a digression. If you’re using Unity 3 please specify that in the subject line since Unity 3 is not the official version of Unity yet.
