Let's speculate about Apple and VR/AR

…Starting with this:
Apple is Most Likely Building an AR/VR Device

I’ve played with the HoloLens, and it’s exceedingly cool. Bulky and uncomfortable and totally lacking in style, but functionally, I really think it’s the future. There will come a time, not too far from now, when there are many layers of virtual worlds laid perfectly atop the real world… and if you can’t see those layers, you’re missing out on a major part of the world around you.

It sounds like maybe Apple’s thinking the same way.

I’d love to see Apple do for AR what they did for, say, MP3 players. They didn’t invent 'em; they just made them stylish and powerful and easy to use, and ushered in mass adoption.

I would guess that Apple’s AR thing, whatever it is, is likely to run iOS. Though the patent seems to be showing a desktop computer, so who knows, maybe it’ll be OS X. Or maybe iOS and Mac OS will be the same thing by then.

In any case, as Unity developers, I expect we’ll be well positioned to build on whatever it is… and probably make apps that also run seamlessly on HoloLens. Exciting times.

But what do you think?

I do think VR is the future, and I would not doubt that apple will try and come along and make a copy of it. Although I will certainly not buy their version unless they happen to do something they haven’t done in years and make a quality device that is substantially better than other available versions. ( I dont like apple, its just a opinion )

Much like Telsa building self driving cars, VR will be a thing of the future and a thing of the past. Glad facebook jumped on the idea and bought Oculus
