Let's Take A Vote

Which would you guys rather? State your answer in a Reply and whichever seems to be getting more votes after a week or so will start to be developed.

Option 1: A game where you act as a mercenary part of Flash Inc. You do all of the same stuff as real-life mercenaries, protection details, escorts, defense, convoys, etc. Based on Blackwater since many of my friends were part of them.

Option 2: A space-flight simulator like X3.

Option 3: Same as Option 2, but you must buy Skillbooks and train them. Like EVE Online, but single-player.

Option 4: An Industry CEO Simulator. Here you will run every aspect of a business, growing it from small to large (if you are successful enough), setting prices, competing in the market, logistics, etc. If you choose this option please state which industry you would like. By Industry I mean Weapons, Grocery, Oil, Etc., anything that interests you. Even logistics may be its own =).

Option 5: Mass Effect type of game. If you choose this option please SPECIFY WHAT TIME PERIOD.

Last question: If it turned out to be good, how much would you be willing to pay? I’m hoping to sell my first game for $10 or $20, depending on size.

Winning: Option 4

  1. Logistics

a mix between 1 and 4… like that game, jagged alliance!

4

Wow, expected a mass to choose 1, I was wrong though. Keep 'em coming =)

5  (mass effect type of game, thus adventure, rpg and shooter combined)

but ok, that is no choice…
so if i need to choose from 1 to 4
i choose 4

Option 5 added to list! Please for Option 4 tell which industry you would like. If none are a clear winner then I will choose the industry myself. Again, by industry I mean Weapon Production, Produce (Grocery), Logistics, Banking, Etc.

all kinds, a sort of industry tycoon type of game.

Since Option 4 is winning by a ton so far, I’ll start writing the ideas, drawing UI’s, drawing the basics of everything, and managing the flow of the game on paper. I’ll create another thread for ideas of the game. Also, please like this Facebook page if you have one, it’s mine and I’ll post many and frequent updates and pictures there, possibly videos. PS: Page is not even close to be finished, but will be soon. For some reason Facebook has been super slow for days.

UPDATE: Link to Ideas Thread and Link to Facebook Page in First Post

ehm, you are just one the first day of the seven days you want this poll to be valid for entries (maybe slowdown a tad), or did i miss something? :stuck_out_tongue:

Make SimCity 5, please
$50-100

Well right now I don’t see others catching up at this rate. But if something else pulls up and takes the lead, what can it harm if I already have the ideas for one game already? The one I’ll have done can be second if it loses :stuck_out_tongue: . So hey, if Option 1 wins that’ll be done first and the second game is done with ideas

@Alexzzzz:
100 for a game? an big AAA game costs around 50-60 USD.
so, i would say, 15 to 30 USD if the quality is good, if average i would go 5 to 15 USD. (for casual/indie game)

I wouldn’t want to be the price of a real industry game, I’d like to stay around $10 for an average game, $20 for a good all-around game, and $30 if I put in a ton of effort and if it’s superb. I wouldn’t even buy my own game if it was $50. For Example, Option 4 would most likely be $10. Options 2 and 3 would be $20. Options 1 and 5 are definitely $30.

4, dont you think all these games are a little large to be your first game?

When you think about it they aren’t too hard. Option 1 is huge, but I’m passionate about that one. I knew many people in Blackwater, and know them inside and out. I’d work forever on it. Option 2 and 3 is where the map would take half the time. Option 4 is quite simple, just need to have editable fields for customization ;). Option 5, hell yeah, that’ll take a long time but may be worth it in the end.

PS: Nice Models Charlie.

1 and 4 because they seem to me the mose addicting ones i would love to play!

Oh and I believe Charlies maybe alittle right.

Option 4. There are not enough decent games like this.

I wouldn’t limit the industry though. In fact I’d have different industries as a big part of your game. And
as a CEO you need to direct the company into the different industries.

EDIT : I would pay $19.99 for a well executed game like this an appealing UI, and longetivity.

I was thinking have ~10 industries. One of these would definitely be a Weapons Industry since that’s my main interest
