sorry for my bad grammar.

p.s. please dont post anything about world of level design because i have looked at that ive tryed and to make it work for me but couldnt and i use blender but anything that is easy to follow is good.

There’s a video tutorial on level design here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0TkplsossE
Not certain how good it is as I use AGF Pro and various other things. But this video is of a level designed in Unity so it may be of use.

Thanks man it helped.
any other videos available ?
also any level design ideas?

It’s always a good idea to learn general modeling in 3ds Max, Maya or Blender. Try to watch as much tutorials as possible and apply those techniques to creating a level.

If you happen to have some spare money, there are good tutorials at http://www.digitaltutors.com/ and http://www.i3dtutorials.com/
(there may be a way to obtain those tutorials for free, but i won’t post it here for obvious reasons)

This youtube channel is nice http://www.youtube.com/user/3dsMaxHowTos

In case you’re asking about the “idea” / “design” part of it, there isn’t much a right or wrong way 3 step process of doing it, you need to know what game are you making and just make sure the design follows your vision. Good practice is to use as low polygons as possible in objects that are not gonna be in near distance to the payer or the focus of the scene. Just try to think about what the player will be looking at and go from there.
Hope i helped XD

I saw some youtube video of someone playing Doom with John Romero and talking about the design and what not. One thing he said that stuck with me is that you should design and make the 1st level/stage/section/whatever of your game after you’ve done the rest of them. That way you’re experienced with your process and know exactly what you can and can’t do with your tools etc. Then you can hopefully make it a really good level that will hook people from the get go and create enough interest for them to keep playing.

Thought it seemed like a pretty logical idea that I’ll definitely use going forwards.

You could look around http://www.blender.org as blender is also a game engine there may be some design tutorials there. There is a game developer list which has a number of professional developers who signed up to volunteer assistance to new developers if requested. It was m mentioned on Game Dev a couple of weeks ago, a search should turn it up. It any be possible to get good advic, a few pointers or useful links from level designers on that list.

Hello everyone! Its very old thread, but i think my videos can be helpfull for somebody of you.
Just view my channel
All videos with subtitles on English, but if you find it helpfull, just write in comments on Youtube and i will be write all future videos in English!

Yeah, would like if you make your videos in English. Additionally, looking for design tutorials for 3D platformer games. may also be analysis of existing 3D platformers.

As it turned out, to translate and articulate all the videos into English quite expensive. But I have added subtitles to all lessons. I hope it will be useful.
As for the platformer. As soon as I finish the Level design course, I think it will be possible to create lessons on this topic.
