My work PC has perhaps overheated for the last time. I’m not sure when the replacement is coming in.
Can I just take the hard drive and add it as a slave in another PC and use Unity there until my new computer is ready?
I have a Pro license, and I have a scene I’m in the middle of working on.
No, your Unity license is linked to your computer’s unique MAC address. You are however allowed to have two copies of Unity installed for a single user. Check out the FAQ thread at the top of this section for more details.
Thanks for the info, and welcome to my big old mess! Thankfully, this is being taken care of for now. I was able to get help from the nifty Unity staff.
This is actually the 2nd computer. The first one was an Apple Macintosh that was being used by a former employee. When he left and I was put on the project, the license was put on my PC. The old Macintosh computer is now being used for something completely unrelated to actual development. But I can’t take it away and reinstall Unity because that would leave that person without a computer. …and I don’t know how to use a Macintosh anyway.
I’m now just waiting for the new PC to get up and running or get the old one fixed.
