I know this might be a little off topic but has anyone run into this? For example, If I wanted to use Unity to create a Star Wars game for Android, would that cause me trouble?
George Lucas would shut you down. Star Wars is a very strongly controlled brand name.
If you want to make a generic space game on Android then there is nothing stopping you.
Lol I kinda figured. I guess being “generic” is key. So if I want to use LEGO blocks to build, as long as I dont call them “LEGO’” I’m good…hahaha
So long you do not use the “Brand names” you can do most of them. They do not have any patent on the genre, just on the names.
You could easy do a Star Wars game as long you do not use the names and use the more common stuff from it, but you can easy do a death star if you call it with other name :-p
