Licensing: we're making a small app for local use with video playback..

Hi,

I work for a small design studio that develops an app for a Dutch township. The app allows the local community to rediscover historical heritage in the region via a collection of video stories by residents in the area. The development budget is around € 20K.

We were happy to try out Unity for this project and we discovered that we need three licenses: pro/ios pro/android pro. It looked like we could pay per month, so we hoped to purchase two months worth of license, which would nicely cover the development period and would fit within the budget.

But now that we are actually about to purchase the license, it appears we need to purchase at least a year of licenses. This means a minimum of € 2052, which is a tenth of the development budget, of which we will not use most of the subscription time.

This seems quite extreme. I was hoping to make sure that I didn’t miss something. Is this really the only option for us?

Thanks,
Mattijs

You didn’t miss anything. Subscription option can only be purchased for minimum 12 month periods.
