I usually got inspiration by alot of Final Fantasy games, but aswell some Zelda stuff (Zelda II don’t count :)), so since a few days back I fired up Blender, modeled a kind of 3d/anime character.
I rigged, animated and threw into Unity3D along with some scripts and here I am. Trying to show off what I got this far.
It is too much improvements and changes to explain here.
Anyone wanna provide some ideas for buildings? Also I need some ideas for a good story. As he is wearing a bandana thing around his eyes (as you might see a bit) I thought of maybe at some time he lost his vision (at birth?) and then learned to recognize everything without his ability to see. Or something like that.
Also, I will constantly update my blog with the game. Really hope it will go commercial one day so I can buy myself a Unity3D Pro license! (Yay!)
Nice this is an awesome start. I’m digging the idea about the eyes. I think a powerful sixth sense could be something like telakanesis(spelling) that allows him to manipulate objects To help him traverse further in the game. Iono just an idea…keep this thread updated!!
Yeah, it sure is a nice idea of you. I planned to have a kind of girl in the game too, maybe like Cloud and Aeris from Final Fantasy VII and somehow create a bond between them which lasts throughout the story.

The models looks nice. And when you say blender, i was like wow. Pardon me, i am not a modelling person and i didn’t know blender could model something like that. I like the style.
that would be awesome to do a concept similar to Aries and cloud, your character could also have a friend in the story similar to Zack that turned against him and caused him to lose his sight in a fight between them in the past. A friend turned foe. something to think about for the actual reseaon he became blind.

I have finally decided people to try out the game concept. You have seen a very few screenshots. Please download a fast peak at it on the above link, tell me the pro’s and con’s or if something needs more improvement. I am open to the most honest critique.
I seen the builds and tbh, the animation is a little stiff. Doesn’t looks like running and the legs is fine but running should make it wider. I like the toon shading effect. Don’t know how you did it. And the textures are well done. Just the animations.
In my opinion you should stick with the toon shader but try to reduce the thickness of the black borders, if possible, they kind of take over everything. Keep it up
I like what it is so far.
But is it really a good idea to get things “like-in-[othergame]”?
Try at least to come up with some things of your own to make it something new.
If you make a game that is like an other game, you have to compete with AAA-games, and that is hard.
If you come up with something that’s original, people will have to play YOUR game for that unique experience!
I wish you good luck, I like the blind-character idea, maybe you can do something with that.

Also, the game concept demo thingy on the first post is Very outdated (and that is a capital V).
