Light/Highlight behind refracted transparent object flashes really bad.

Hi, whenever there is a light behind refracted surface, the light starts to flash really bad, light tactical strobes. I’ve tried to play around with post processing (bloom and exposure) but I can’t seem to fix or suppress it.

Is there a way to suppress this? Or is this a limitation of current implementation?
Any help will be appreciated.

Does it disappear when you disable bloom?

It’s hard to tell without a repro or at least a video.
I have at least 3 culprits possible:

  • TAA jittering can cause some sort of flickering behind rough refractive glass (Try disabling TAA on your camera to see if it’s still happening without moving)
  • Very small or narrow area light emissive mesh, like a neon (or any bright object) can cause some aliasing that is amplified in the color pyramid lower mips (used for screen space refraction). especially when looking from far away (try increasing the size of your emissive light)
  • Volumetrics reprojection denoising mode can also cause some flickering that can be amplified as well (try disabling volumetrics on your light or set None to the denoising mode in Fog Override.
