Light-mapping not giving me results expected.

Hey all,

I have tried to follow the Quick-Start manual for light-mapping and I get unwanted results. Attached are ‘before’ and ‘after’ pics of my scene. I could only show a snippet of my scene, but the attached should be sufficient to understand my issue.

Thanks for any input.

What do you mean by “unwanted”, that wheels aren’t lightmapped? Are they marked as “static”?

The entire truck assembly is marked as static.

Obviously, the first image is before light mapping and I actually want the shadow results of the after image, but I don’t want the truck to look so terrible.

The truck looks completely flat rendered (without any lighting).

Are you using layers and the truck is on a layer not touched by lights?
Is the light marked to work on lightmaps?

Well, here is a screenshot of my light settings…if this helps.

Oh and everything right now is on the ‘default’ layer. I will organize in a few days, but this lighting issue is actually important to get looking right first.

How many million poly is the jeep?

143,500

read up my questions here, maybe they will help

also what is resolution, and did you create uvs yourself or generated in unity

Is the truck using normalmapping? cause that one will be lost when you enable light mapping for example, it would only show in dual lightmapping against realtime lights
