Light Probes and Static Object

I was looking at the Unity Boston conference and especially the point about the GI and there is something I don’t understand.

Why during the conference there are saying that to gain performance it’s better to have less static object and more light probes with non-static object.

I was thinking more static object you have and better performance u have on your CPU.
But maybe I miss something.

To have the GI perform better (and have the bakes finish faster) small-ish objects should use light probes instead of being lightmap static.
