Light Volumes in an unlit game?

Hey all!

I’m currently making a low poly game and I’m going for a visual style similar to Donut County. To keep all of my colors flat, I’ve kept my materials unlit but now i have no idea how to simulate light. The gif below is exactly how I want my lights to look but I don’t even know how to describe it, let alone google related tutorials.

Does anyone here know how to put this effect into words for me? I’m pretty sure this game doesn’t use a toon shader.

Thanks

That really is just a toon shader. All they’re doing is controlling the lighting ramp.

Yep. I think Unity Standard Assets still comes with a ramp toon shader. You can create a variety of different lighting effects by creating your own ramp, including the effect in your screenshot.
