Lightmap Artifacts

Hey, i’m lightmapping a scene- here’s the result.

As you can see, the result is unsatisfactory. It’s downright ugly- artifacts, stepping blahhhh ugh. The edges that should be hard angles are soft, and that’s just ugly. It’s pixelated tooo :frowning:

So, why’s it coming out like crap after a curry?

Ok, now whatever scene I choose, It’s ugly. And I can’t increase the lightmap resolution to above 50- even if the number is bigger, it still renders at 50.

do you have ios/android as build platform? pvrtc is bad for lightmaps

Also, I don’t think it looks that bad. If you texture it, none if the artifacts will be very apparent.

You could also break your objects into smaller pieces, just in case one mesh is hitting the maximum atlas size.

Also, I assume you are generating lightmap UVs, right?

Well, everything is in small groups. No that’s not ios or android as a build platform. I’m generating the lightmap UV’s, yes.

But what about the lightmap resolution not increasing above 50? Everything I’ve seen is saying I can do alot higher, but that’s not working.

Whats that look like with show lightmap resolution ticked?

Might want to set up how much space each major object takes in the atlas. If its all one mesh then the system will struggle to fit everything on.
