So we’re finishing up a project at the moment where we’re using lightmaps and deploying to iOS. We’ve often used lightmaps in the past and we’ve often built for iOS, but this happens to be the first time we’ve lightmapped for an iOS project, and for some reason when moving the project from one of our other workstations to one of our Mac workstations the lightmap import takes ages. Imports for iOS have always been slower than for other platforms, but it’s never been a big deal until now - with lightmaps it’s downright problematic. And this isn’t a large project - there are only two lighmapped scenes and they’re not overly large.
Any ideas about what could be going on here or how we can speed things up? We’ll be getting a cache server in place in the near future, but any hints as to how we can make life easier between now and then would be greatly appreciated.
This is especially painful because it seems that lightmaps made on non-iOS workstations break when we switch the project to iOS, so we’re also limited as to which of our machines we can use for the baking. Is there something we’re missing somewhere to cause this?
Edit: Actually, watching the import progress, it looks like all textures imported to iOS simply take ages.
