Lightwave FBX not exporting mesh names from Modeler

Hi,

I have spent half a day trying to figure this out but, I thought I would just try asking now.

Is it even possible for Lightwave to keep surface and/or part names correct when the FBX is exported for Unity? Say I have 2 layers, 1 is “Ruby”, 2 is “Ruby Glow”, these layer names are not passed into Unity under the Asset.

All the meshes say is “MeshObject” and “MeshObject 1”.

Note, this is exporting the FBX from Modeler, if I export them from Layout, you get “object:ruby”, works as one might expect.

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

The modeler FBX exporter sucks, unfortunately.

Thanks,

That is what I suspected. I guess I will try to organize the models as “packages” in a lws file. BTW I’m using 9.6 64bit.

What do you do about the Cameras and Lights being included all the time? It’s funny Newtek removed the pop-up dialog for this, seems counter productive.

Mike

I just delete them inside unity.
