Limit tree leaf brightness?

The problem is simple. If I look directly at my light source (the sun) through the branches (leaves) of my Tree Creator trees, they’re almost pure white.

This is slightly amplified if I turn on the Post Processing Stack profile I have on one of my cameras, but just barely.
I don’t think I’m willing to change any light settings drastically, as everything looks exactly how I want it, and it’s just how the branches (leaves) take in the light that is the problem (and also the bark).

The “Optimized Leaf” material uses 4 textures created automatically (and so does the “Optimized Bark” one).

On the left of each is the bark texture, and on the right is the branch (leaf) texture. And I was wondering if one of these could possibly be causing the problem, since both “normal_specular” and " translucency_gloss" are just flat colors. And I don’t know how those two work (the color part), so I don’t know how big of an impact they are having on the appearance of the branches (leaves).

Could anyone suggest something? Maybe changing either of those two textures (if not both), or changing something very slightly in the lighting settings (lighting window, light source, etc.).

Also, incase this is relevant information, all the branches (leaves) on the trees are “TriCross” rather than “Plane”, “Cross” or “Mesh”.

I’m leaning towards the textures causing this issue, as when the sun is directly on top (12:00), the tree bark is pretty much black. Which pretty much means they are both experiencing drastic changes in lighting. Keep in mind this is only true for the trees, and nothing else in the game (as far as I can remember).

I was thinking maybe the “Translucency Color” has something to do with this, since automatically it’s light green, but I set it to pure white. I’ll test it later today and update this post if that works.

UPDATE: Yep, it was the Translucency Color. Although the trees still feel kinda weird. By logic, shouldn’t they be brighter when looked at from above, rather than below? Anyone know of a tree/foliage shader that does that well?

Also, I’m using a Directional Light, so shouldn’t that be even more true? Since light is only hitting the leaves from above?
