Linear color space renders game view black

When opening Unity I get three warnings

6414183--716556--upload_2020-10-13_18-28-37.png
Unable to determine Max Full Frame Tonemap Luminance from display.
Unable to determine Max Tonemap Luminance from display
Unable to determine Min Tonemap Luminance from display

And the game view is entirely black (incuding the top bar menu in the game view where I can select aspect and scale). UI renders fine, but the world is incredibly dark.

When I change color space to Gamma it renders fine again. (I have to remove HDRP to test this) This is on macbook pro with macOS Catalina 10.15.7 and using latest unity beta (but the problem also exists in 2020.1) on HDRP Version 9.0.0-preview.54

Hi @Skjalg ,

Could you please submit a bug report for this, ideally with a reproducible project? We don't have anything logged for this yet.

Hi @LeonhardP

The Case id is 1285015

Thanks a lot, we'll look into it!

This is still happening as of 2021-04-21 on a Macbook M1 on Big Sur, Unity 2020.3 LTS

Was there an update on this? I'm pretty deep into development on PC and just now for fun trying to port to mac while running latest macos, URP, and 2021.1.15f. :)

The issue has been fixed in 2021.2.0a1 and onward: https://issuetracker.unity3d.com/product/unity/issues/guid/1285015/

Unable to determine Max Full Frame Tonemap Luminance from display.
Unable to determine Max Tonemap Luminance from display
Unable to determine Min Tonemap Luminance from display

This is still a thing on 2021.2.16f1 and we can't seem to go gamma color space due to it. Seems to works fine in linear. Running Unity 2021.2.16f1 on mac m1. Any thoughts?

I can confirm this is still an issue on 2021.3.0f1 LTS.

I confirm the same. Game looks really black. Linear space, using Built In. I have found that changing MacBook Display Preset to Internet & Web (sRGB) fixes the dark colors BUT that is not a solution for production. I cannot attach project. MacBook Pro M1, Unity 2021 LTS Silicon. Can this be fixed?

@LeonhardP,I still has this problem when using Unity 2022.1.15f1 with URP 13.1.18. While it work correctly on 2019.4.40f1.
My machine is MacBook Pro M1. I think this bug is still there.

Hey this still a big issue in Unity 2020

It make unity really unusable on MacBook.

Getting this bug too in 2021.3.11f1 LTS

How about this BUG? Will it be fixed?

Have this bug on M1 Mac, 2021.3.13f1

File a new bug? the old one is closed and it probably won't be looked at again.

The same three warnings still on Unity 2022.2.0b16 and M1 macbook pro:

And this display color gamut is error. The color like red or green on UI in GameView is too bright.

same issues on Unity2022.1.23f1 & M1 macbook pro
