Link to a News article deleted by Hippo Really?

It was a news article about some idiots leaking the xbox one sdk.

It was not a “how to”

You had absolutely no reason to delete it.

Try reading.

So I assume you broke this rule.

You can find it at forum rules pinned at the top of the thread list.

I did read em son!

It’s news all over the web. Banning a discussion of that is just plain ridiculous.

Yeah, I guess we can just ban the posting of any Google links to or discussion of any article that might reference an article that references illegal activity also.

You have a nice day too elmy

Clearly says it’s not allowed to make threads about illegal software.

It doesn’t matter if even the news are all over the universe: Rules are rules, and you broke them, which has resulted in a thread lock.

I didn’t make a thread about illegal software.

Please read.

Why are you being so stubborn about it? All you had to do was message him and ask him why, if he gave you a reason, which is valid… I mean heck, I did a quick google search and the first link that popped up gave me the link to download it. (I didn’t download).

But still, it’s a very serious issue and I see why he locked it, because it will entice people to do a google search just as I did, just so they can get it…

I’ll just do this from now on.
Unless they ban posting links to Google

It is a very serious issue and the article I posted a link to originally, the one Hippo deleted the link to, informed people of this serious issue. The article I posted had no links to any illegal software. It wasn’t a howto.

Why is this so hard for you people to follow?

Please pay attention.

I would assume it’s one of the occasions that yeah we all know about it, but probably better left unsaid. People don’t need to know about this. If you hear about it you hear about it, but I’m guessing that’s why he locked it.

  1. At first people will read news.
  2. Then they’ll Google it for more info.
  3. Then they get to download illegal software.

To whom? Gamers? Developers? Sounds like Microsoft’s problem.

Perhaps but I am of the opinion however that there is no harm in them knowing.

So you’re saying if you made a multi-million dollar SDK (Application, etc). People steal it, then give it to the world, that only a select few will ever see, to just be handed to millions for free, you’re saying it’s not a problem if people know about it, try to find it, steal it from the thieves, produce their products and make money from it?

This is important, relevant game development news. The Unity community should be informed.

Nope.
Not saying that at all.

Again, please read.

You didn’t answer my question. Stop ignoring me.

Read again.

But this is where it goes.

It doesn’t matter if you said it. It doesn’t matter if you didn’t mean to promote pirated SDK either.

I think Hippo read the title, objected to that and deleted the link without reading the article.
