So for some groups who have already invested thousands of dollars on existing Unity middle-ware / assets which are now available for sale on the Asset Store, what are they to do? Hopefully not pay the full price again.
Many of the providers are looking to unify their updating (as the store allows for) … but how to handle that hurdle of getting existing purchasers linked properly. Unity deserves its 30% cut, there is no doubt in my mind …
Is there going to be a process to which sellers can link accounts to their products via exposed APIs? Maybe sellers could issue redeemable coupons or something?
Just throwing ideas out here, as I love the concept of the store, especially keeping things in a unified place.
I hope such a way will happen yeah, would love to use my EZ - SM plugins right from there instead of keeping an eye on the downloads at anbsoftware and I’m sure brady wouldn’t mind to not have to maintain two distinct places
I’m sure they’ve got quite a few ideas where they want to take the Asset Store, for a first release its still pretty neat. We’ll just be waiting a bit to see what happens.
I mean … within minutes of its ‘turning on’, they were already looking at the code and improving … cough my macbook still cant access it
“@Reapazor I just receive a message from the Unity guys and there is no way to link your Frogames purchases to the Unity Asset Store. sorry.” From Chris over at FroGames.
If this is the case, this is incredibly disappointing … come on Unity…not cool.
