linux and unity

I have been looking for an answer to this for a long time, so does anyone know if unity work with Linux? P.S… if it does work, what bugs are there that there are not on windows/MacOS?

any help would be great

Nope, Unity doesn’t play nicely with Linux either as an editor or player. You can vote for adding support here.

Just to confirm: you are talking about Unity3D, right? I’m asking because lots of linux guys fall here looking for answers about unity, which I presume is a kind of Windows for Linux.

Assuming we are talking about the same thing, Unity3D doesn’t have a Linux version yet - despite this is by far the most requested feature. You can take a look at this question, where several guys discuss this exact matter - some of them also suggested to use Wine (which I don’t know yet).

I don’t use Linux, but I would love to have Linux Unity3D - for professional applications like simulators or training machines, uncle Bill’s Windows doesn’t seem to be a good choice.

Anyway, some time ago I heard about a linux WebPlayer, which could solve some problems, but don’t know if they launched it yet.

Unity2.6.1 and Unity3.0 work with Linux using Wine 1.3 and probably newer wines. I could not find where to download these legacy versions of Unity on their site.

Unity 4 was just announced with linux support:
