Linux unity web player??

So yeah, what would be awesome…A Unity Web Player Plugin for Linux!! You know how many games i would like to demo out before i try them, that are all in browser! You would think that the unity devs would of thought, “oh well when people make unity games, some of them are going to most likely use the web player to allow people to try them out”. Then not create a linux plugin. I do prefer download a native client for linux, but when i am really interested in a game, and im always about trying it out first, i would def like to be able to do that when a plugin version is the only thing available.

There is really no Unity webplayer for Linux ? shocked

IMO it is because it opens Unity up for easily integrating in a embedded system.

That doesn’t really make any sense. You can use the NaCl exporter, although that’s limited to Chrome.

There’s no reason other than unity are short staffed in that department. Their linux team is driven by passion and there’s not many  As eric said you can use NaCl.

As a Linux user, I’ve written many emails to many different developers asking for at least an NaCl build, but no one seems to want to go through the trouble because of potential (and sometimes substantial) changes they would need to make in order for it to build.

If there were a Linux plugin, we’d have instant access to all existing content without developers having to put some work into projects that may be far behind them.

Now that SteamOS is on the way, hopefully we’ll get some more Linux interest drummed up…

The whole “plugins gonna be banned” thing probably puts a damper on any chance of a Linux web player now, at least using current technology.

My project utilizes Unity networking, thus can’t be even compiled to NaCl.
