LOD groups

is there a way to get a LOD to change at a specific distance, say 8.1 meters? how does unity determine the LOD distances, a bigger object seems to have a greater distance at say 25% than a smaller object, which makes sense, but how can I determine what the actual distance is in units?

It’s based on the height of the GameObject as compared to the height of the screen. More information here in the manual.
