If you guys have any 3D Coat tutorials for game texture painting than I would love to see it. Also how much detail do you think should be put into a model for realism?
There are quite a number of 3D coat tutorials out on Youtube (and Vimeo), just google “3D coat tutorials”
There’s nothing special about Unity’s use of textures done in 3d coat. I believe someone was working on a 3d coat Applink for Unity, but the applink page seems to be down right now.
The real trick is baking the detail onto low poly meshes / UVs. 3d coat can create a hell of a lot of detail, particularly in voxel mode and then painting in pTex. Most of that detail is going to get lost on a 2-7K poly model with a low res UV.
