Like the title says, i am trying to figure out how to bake textures for unity, but i find it quite puzzling.
When I render to texture in 3DS Max i do get some texturemaps, but they look all wrong in Unity.
Possible UV problem?
Does anyone know of a good guide on baking textures?
Yes, it would be great if clear and simple workflow would exist to bake textures in an external application such as 3DS Max and get them straight to Unity! The control over the baking parameters and especially over the UV mapping/packing is much more developed in the 3D modeling packages than in Unity.
The UV packing in Unity has been extremely poor (and uncontrollable) for many many years and it seems no change can be expected any times soon, according to discussion here .
Unity, please, provide simple way of using externally baked textures!
