Hi
im new here and hope you can help me
im looking for a 3D engine to use a player to use for my 3D models imported from 3D package and then get move by the user mouse and keyboard
its suppose to work on any browser
support high polygons
fast
flash compatible
html5 competible is it possible?
is unity the right tool for me?
I think Unity would be a good fit for your needs. Unity can handle large poly counts, no problem. If you’re using it to showcase 3D models one at a time, you can definitely go crazy on the poly counts and texture sizes.
Why don’t you download the free version or the 30 day trial of Pro and see for yourself? I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised and all your questions will be answered.
Unity is great and easy to learn! It will fit your needs. Not sure about HTML5 but everything else you will be good to go.
Thanx guys
can i show my 3D models on any web browser? yes im showing only one model per time
is it an open source?
thanx
Unity is not open source. You can make a special arrange for a price to get a source lisence
Download Unity for free, try it out for your projects, make a webplayer and test it on the browsers you need to. If it works perfectly for what you need, then you’re good. I think it will work great for you. It’s not open source, but doesn’t matter if it gets the job done and does it for free. If anything, a Pro license is pretty inexpensive as well, so you really can’t loose. Give it a spin, you have nothing to loose but some time doing R&D.
Ok ill try that
thanx for the help guys
What we’ve got right now for the browser is the Unity webplayer (fast but buggy), Chrome NaCl (fast, but only works in Chrome) and Flash. The latter two are still in beta.
HTML5/WebGL support is being worked on, but I doubt that’s going to get anywhere soon. For now, I’d just suggest requiring your users to install the Unity webplayer, as Flash support is really bad.
What if i want the player to integrate with my own player?
can i do that with Unity?
thanx
Not without a source license.
Can i get the source license?
paying offcourse
