Hey guys, I’m currently making a game called “Paranoia”. You basically play as a character who suffers from a nightmare disorder which causes him to have nightmares almost every night. Most levels in the game will be these nightmares which gives it it’s scarier feel, seeing as it’s a dream and anything can happen as opposed to real life. However, the disorder becomes worse and the nightmares start to cross over into reality. It looks alright so far but not much is going on in it and I’m quite short on ideas for what to do next. The thought came to me of having one or more people helping out, and here I am. I cannot pay you, but I can assure you that it will become OUR project and not just mine (I’m 16 and unemployed haha) anyway, There are some screenshots in the attachments so take a look and tell me what you think!
The bump mapping looks a bit overdone, especially on the 2nd and 4th images.
I’ll be sure to fix that
What kind of help do you need exactly? Scripting, modelworks, textures? I might be able to pitch in with a few assets here and there, but can’t commit to anything bigger than that.
Anything you can contribute will be greatly appreciated, and you will be accredited for anything you help me with. Scripting and models sound great, I will need lots of events in the game like things popping up etc (Like F.E.A.R, Condemned) but I’m not experienced enough to do this yet, nor do I have the programs for modelling/animation or the money for them. Also even small things like ideas for levels and features I can put in the game.
Check out blender3d and gimp both are freeware that should help you in the long run.
Thanks man, will check Blender out.
im also building a horror game, and like you i also used to max up the bump map, try to leave them low, and also try adding some different light colors, maybe a bit blue-ish, or yellow from a candle, and i would also suggest using some better textures, also when u build a level, try to think realistic, becouse on the last image i have never seen a door enterance like that lol, but for the rest its looking pretty good ;), gla more people are making horror games
good luck
Thanks man! I’ve lowered the bump maps since I posted this haha, and yeah I agree my maps aren’t really realistic since everything is a cube with textures hahaha, should probably use a modeling program for that but yeah Been making it since Friday, how’s yours coming along? Any screenshots?
mine’s starting to look better, we have around 1-3 levels now, we did alot of scripting, and modeling, but yeah here’s some screens, dont want to show to much though its still wip so he expect it to look much better, but yeah ill be happy to help you with your game with some models and level desing, that is if u want,or maybe you want to help mine?
some pictures are a bit dark, i dont know why there brighter in the game engine, i think its the screen recorder
sorry for the long post xD
Looks amazing man! Yeah I’ll be happy to help, we might be able to do a two way thing. Like I help you, you help me.
I’m having troubles with level design, models and scripting at the moment
I can maybe contribute some brief outlines of maps. I won’t be able to contribute any code, seeing as how I can barely make a program myself, but I can contribute what I can. Can you show me the level designs you have at the moment?
What exactly are you looking for? more in game screenshots? or shots of the scene view?
This is startin to look really great. Best of luck with it and keep us posted, I will be watching this.
Best Regards,
Matt.
Thanks so much! I’ll be sure to keep updating regularly
alright guys heres a quick update on Paranoia. I’ve done a little gamplay video of one of my levels (Not even close to completion) so check it out and tell me what you think!
The character is really, really short.
Thanks for all of your positive feedback so far blacklight28 hahahah
Well if you want to do creative stuff you need to work on the programming part
