Looking for thoughts on online instructor lead traning

Hi all,

Last year I offered an intro to game development course for kids aged 12-17 (grades 7-12), and that went well, but I had several challenges:

  • the lab I used at a local college was both expensive (which drove up cost of the course) and constantly causing Unity fits (part of each class went to fixing installs)
  • I had some students with social anxiety who struggled (and at least one withdrew) because the peer setting was too much
  • I had requests from people well outside the city I’m in to deliver the course, but there was no way to do that

So this year I’m considering offering the course again but this time entirely online.

My questions to the community are:

  • has anyone tried this (live instructor lead courses) either as a teacher or student, and what were your experiences?
  • from a student (or parent) perspective, what do you think of a 10 week (1 hour sessions) approach?
  • Anything else, really. what are your thoughts on this?

So now I open it up to the forum… what do you think?

Thanks,

Galen

I do this currently.

Both online and in the summer. http://mindframeeducation.com

Always a market for it.
