Lost an Evening of Work Unity Fail

Here is an easy way to loose an evening

  1. Upgraded Unity to 5.5
  2. Launched Unity (Prompt for Key)
  3. Enter Key → Key has been activated too many times.
  4. Click Link in Error Message to Disable all activations
  5. Visit Portal. Find that have to go to New Portal to manage Subscriptions
  6. New portal no longer has the Disable all activations button (they are working on it)
  7. Email Support
  8. Can’t #$%^ work tonight

Honestly what ding dong Product Manager made the decision to launch the new subscription portal without this feature. Now I can’t port my game to Windows until support@Unity3D.com emails me back? Really?

Thank god my mac still works.

Hi Ogien,

Apologies that you have not been able to work last night on your project.

I’ve just responded to your ticket. In the meantime, if you ever have a hardware/OS upgrade, I find managing the activations within the editor before you proceed with the upgrade to be useful.

To do this, all you have to do is:

  • Open Unity
  • Click “Unity” (or Windows user click “Help”)
  • Click “Manage Licence…”
  • Click “Return Licence”

Please let me know in the ticket if you still have any issues.
