Hey guys,
Just a short video I made in which I run around a little desert island archipelago in Unity. Apologies for the lack of detail - I made this to see what the light mapping and low poly style would look like in an FPS so I didn’t really have time to create beautiful natural landscapes etc.
So, could a low-poly art style be used in a game? Let me know what you think!
PS: Choice of music was random, seemed to go with the general theme of things though…
I feel like your trees are a bit too dark. If you are going with a vibrant color palette, go all in.

I think the low-poly theme could be great in an FPS as long as you get a good color pallet and art-style. You’ve got a good start and I would love to see more.

Thanks for the feedback guys! Art has never been my strong suit, but I’ll work on stringing together some nice colours if that helps. In this video I was really trying to see whether an actual low poly style would work, or whether it would look too bland and off putting. Didn’t turn out too bad I guess!
Shadows and AO always help, no matter what style.
There seems to be more of a lighting issue than anything else.
Here’s a tip - take a screenshot of your game and grayscale it. If the scene is difficult to interpret in grayscale then you don’t have enough contrast. All the colors in the wheel won’t matter if the scene is roughly all the same saturation.
