I’m looking for a terrain asset compatible with low poly style, ideally a cheap one.
What I’m looking for:
Not a minecraft terrain. Shouldn’t be bunch of cubes.
Doesn’t need high details, basically, having 1 meter grid cells is okay.
The target is a space scene with no atmosphere.
Multiple materials support.
That’s a minimum.
Basically, at a minimum I’d want a space scene like Moon - meaning rock, several types of ore, maybe some ice. If that thing allowed me to plug in biomes or make a life-sized planet later, that would be great, but that’s not strictly necessary.
Astroneer would likely be close to what I had in mind.
I am likely capable of writing one, but I’m feeling under the weather and rather not do it.
I was sort of hoping for “personal experience” recommendation. In the assets in the link, there’s pretty much one asset (Ultimate Terrains) that looks like it might fit the bill, but it is triplanar textured with smooth shading, and hasn’t been updated for a long time. (Apparently developer moved on to Digger Pro?)
I can replicate marching cubes without significant issue. The point of a terrain system to go a bit beyond that level with multiple material support and the like.
