Hi everybody, i have an issue with editing scripts from Unity on my macbook pro. I have tried over the past two days and it seems like a persistent issue. When i edit a script unity loads a bug report almost straight away and in the background monodevelop opens but its not responding. I then have to force quit both programs. Reading up on this a few people seemed to have this issue in the past however an update fixed this which i have a most recent release. Can anybody offer me some advice on fixing this? Im fairly new to Unity so it may be user error? Thanks!
Hi Veljex
Might be helpful to let us know what version of Unity you are using and version of OSX. This might sound stupid but have you tried reinstalling Unity?
Hi thanks for the response. Im running the latest version of Mountain lion and unity is v 4.2.0f4
i was going to reinstall but thought i would double check if it was a known issue first as my net speed is a bit slow at the moment.
Ok I think I may have a fix. I have opened up MonoDev and then clicked on the javascript function within Unity and it has worked for now.
For me its very rare to have any problems what comes to Unity editor itself… but having lot of problems with webplayer; not working at all with Chrome (gives load player screen), Sarari crash… and sometimes even crash the OS to forced boot, which is very, very rare (suppose that got to do something with hardware, OSX hardly ever crash totally) Firefox is only browsaer that works for me…? Note; i have newest OSX and all, but account is transferred from two year old iMac, so apps and settings are from older computer, and that might have something to do with my problems…
My mac has crashed while looking for a save location for a animation. Are these related in any way?
Hi Veljex, glad you got it running. If you have a look around the forums it seems there are quite a few issues being reported with 4.2. I’m currently running 4.1.5 which seems to be pretty stable and haven’t had any problems. All the old versions of Unity are available so maybe install the 4.1.5 for now until they release the next patch for 4.2. Only problem is I’m not sure if your current project in 4.2 will work in 4.1.5 but if you have only just started something it’s a little price to pay to not have to worry about bugs.
