Mac red title bar button has a black dot

Why is there a black dot on the red button on the top left ( the close button ) ?
It was not there on previous versions, and I don’t think belongs there.

The black dot is there when there are unsaved changes. It disappears when saving. This is not new, nor specific to Unity. This has been MacOS functionality for years.

Thanks the explanation, I thought I did not see it in 2019 but it makes sense.
