What are some of the better Mac screen recording applications out there (like Camstudio for Windows)? Also, I don’t mind If I have to pay for it (as long as I get a full featured demo version for at least a week).

I really like ScreenFlow…and it has some pretty easy to use editing tools.
I’m a long time fan of Snapz Pro, and I use it frequently, both for recording movies and for taking screen shots. I use it too just for measuring exact dimensions on the screen.
But I have heard the old “Mac screen recorders are not as good as Camtasia!” arguments from Windows users. Fortunately there is quite a good come back to that argument now:
It is indeed quite good, and simple to use. The editor has its own style, so it may take a tutorial or two to get the hang of it. At least I can use it for recording video and screen recording at the same time, and the other until now Windows only features.

I got Screenflick earlier this year. Simple, effective, and cheap; doesn’t have loads of features, but I didn’t need anything too fancy so that’s why I went for this one.

I have head good things about iShowU.
I have been using SnapzPro and found it a little unstable and intrusive. I don’t like how it locks you out of your desktop (until record time) once opened. It isn’t very good at saving with compression as the file sizes are not as small as they should be. thus, it can also have slow save times when wanting best results.
My workflow:
I usually record 10 minute clips of 1600x1200 without audio and save it without any compression. The downside of doing like this is that the save time can take hours and I generally leave it to save overnight. Once saved, I then scale it down and add compression in QT Pro for better video quality and huge savings on compressed file sizes.
I am aware that my screen size is high for screen recording and will be playing a big part in my save times.

Ditto. Screenflick is what I use in the cases where Quicktime X isn’t appropriate. (when I don’t want a fullscreen recording)
I use iShowU and record a window to an uncompressed quicktime file, then post compress using Flash video. I’m happy with the end result.
What I’d like to find is a cheap, super easy to use video editor that I can use to add nice intro graphics and text. iMovie HD would be perfect, but it’s restricted to certain video resolutions which I’m not able to record at. For now I’m using Blender, which works, but the work flow isn’t ideal.
I don’t know about iMovie HD, but with iMovie, you can export using Quicktime to a custom size, including cropping, etc. (After reading all the complaining about how supposedly horrible iMovie was compared to the old version, I actually found it fine for what I wanted to do.)

I was in this situation 6 months ago.
I went with ScreenFlow; had least issues with fps degradation and video quality was great. I found iShowU HD a good runner up but I forget what it was that made me decide on ScreenFlow (been a while).
I use, and really like, Camtasia. Some of those others look pretty cool too. But I can personally vouch for Camtasia being really easy to use and having some great features that make it easy to do just what you want. The only real downside I see is its project files can be HUGE for lengthy videos. But it has some great export options. I did these entirely with Camtasia and didn’t have to use any 3rd party tools:

NOTE: By default, your generated HTML has a page header that says “Created by Camtasia”, but that can obviously be changed very easily. I was just too lazy/unconcerned to do it.

I ended up getting ScreenFlow as I really like that workflow it has and mupromo had a 50% or so sale on it one day.
I use Screencast-o-matic, it’s free and easy-to-use.
I have to cast my vote for ScreenFlow. It’s been so easy to make screen recordings and I highly recommend it.
