Using the Unity build 2017.1.0b9 for Mac
There doesn’t seem to be an option to build for Mac standalone in the latest releases. There wasn’t an option for it at install.
Did this get dropped or have I missed something.

I checked my macOS 10.12.5 & build a standalone is still there under Unity Personal _2017.1.0b9 - File/Build Settings and it’s working.

Seems like you’re having an isolated error that’s preventing it from loading at launch, perhaps try dumping the Library folder in your Unity project or maybe an extension is corrupt or a reference to it (permissions), within Unity’s internal extension folder @ “Unity.app/Contents/UnityExtensions/Unity/GUISystem/Standalone”.
The desktop platform that you install the editor on doesn’t have an installer option because its not optional, it has to be installed as far as I remember.
