Macbook Air for writing code?

I’m just getting into Unity, but I can’t lug my PC everywhere to code. Would a Macbook (Air, preferably) work for the coding parts, while running/testing on a PC? Does Unity even have a cloud coding feature? Just trying to figure out how best to set myself up.

maybe opt for pro with more harddrive than basic model, but windows better value

A macbook air will be fine for writing code but will not be great for actually running programs performance wise

Code writing has the performance requirements of a word processor. So basically any computer can do it.

Honestly, you can probably just set it up so you’re pushing/pulling your code from a repository from a Macbook if you’re just using it to code. No need for a cloud coding solution.

You could easily code on a MacBook Air. However, you’ll probably want to do more than just type code. You’ll want to be able to run your project to test and iterate. For that, a powerful desktop PC is generally the best solution overall. If you are building a small 2D mobile game, then a MacBook Air would be fine to build and test on. However, if you are building large 3D games, then the MacBook Air may be underpowered for building and testing.

Below that of a word processor. Compare vim to libre office, for example.

I would like to point out that despite what I said earlier in this thread, I was developing solely on a microsoft surface last year for 6 months and while things were slow, I was able to develop on it.

Play mode took like a full minute to enter, framerate was complete **** but it did run, and unity did not crash anymore than it does on my pc that has 10x the power.

I am not saying it was a good setup (or I would have kept it as portability was awesome). But I am saying that it worked.

For mobile AR which is what I was doing at the time, it was actually okay. Moving onto PC + Switch development made me need to upgrade though.
