MachineGun not working

Hi,
I am currently using the FPS turtorial and i got to the machine gun part but it doesnt seem to be working correctly. When I press the mouse button no sparks appear on objects (no sound either) and the muzzle flash never goes away.

The muzzle flash and the shot sound are fired in LateUpdate(), but only if the variable Muzzle Flash was assigned in the Inspector:

Assign muzzle_flash (it’s a child of machineGun) to the Muzzle Flash variable of
the Machine Gun component of the MachineGun game object.

Something similar occurs with the Sparks prefab: it must be added to the machine gun model, not to the MachineGun object, or else the script will not be able to find it:

Drag the Sparks prefab from the Standard Assets/Particles folder so that it’s a
child of machineGun (not MachineGun) in the Hierarchy View.
