Ok another unity update and the unity GUI Canvas is still bugged out of its mind.
Uploaded a video so people know what I’m talking about, also sometimes changes scaling and position entirely of Canvas Objects, seems no fix on the inerwebs.
Might have to change to another development platform. their not fixing this. been Like this for several unity versions.
hey man, ye, but that’s not the point, the point is it makes editing and placing the GUI elements in the editor extremely frustrating to use unity at all.
ok, well…that wasn’t really clear from your first post, and naturally that would be a side effect. I was merely pointing out I had experienced the same bug in another version…
ye been several of the latest versions for me sometimes it actually changes size and scale of UI elements completely and have to spend ages fixing the GUI, makes the UI impossible to use cause it changes size and scale on oyu and other funky stuff, can’t use unity until this is fixed, used unity for years. never had anything like this until recently.
You guys are using the beta version. Keep to the stable versions if you’re gonna freak out at every little bug.
A workaround is to use constant pixel size in the canvas scaler to move around your elements then change to scale with screen size when testing in play mode.
I’ll give that a go, and its not just the beta, its last few versions of unity its been happening to me tho if you dont have screen-size scale, its screws ur guis hard if you change screensize or go fullscreen act.
and its not just a visual thing, it randomly changes and sets your gui scale size, for a simple built in feature this is not ok.
I’m well-aware of this…and of the “fun” of testing the beta versions, however URP is a must for my project. 2019.3 is a prerequisite for this package version, and for PP 2.5. I have already reported a confirmed UI bug. (1179679).
I’ll add to this, I wouldn’t consider it a small bug. My current project requires URP and the new forked HDRP PP stack which is only available in 2019.3, thus I am forced to use the beta :(. It is annoying, yes, but can be worked around like most bugs. Admittedly, the betas nowadays seem way more stable than the 4.x versions did. Anyone remember the first few versions of the UI Canvas System?
Frankly speaking, 4.6 and onwards was very stable in my experiance, however 5.0 + was a nightmare - some of the bugs introduce in 5.0 are still present and some of the game breakers where fixed not long time ago.
Probably should post this concern in the 2019.3 beta forum or the 2020.1 alpha forum and file a bug report. As already mentioned, finding serious bugs in beta and alpha releases are the rule, and even the point of these releases.
