I want to make this gameobject sparkle with a green color.
I don’t know how to do it.
At first I thought I could use a particle system and emit them only on the wings. The problem is that the particle system can’t be centred in the wings and that the particles are not ONLY limited to the wings…
The closest thing I found from what I want is to use a particle shader on my object.
It looks nice but it doesn’t sparkle. I was wondering how I could animate it and what is the easiest way to do it. Should i use the particle system, create an animation or etc…
You could fake it by drawing sparkle sprites over the surface of the wings, this could be animated with 3-6 frames of animation, and randomize the sparkle effect across the surface of the wings.
And - yes this could be done with the particle system. To localize the particles only on the wings, the wings will need to be separate from other objects and the pivot point of the wings centered appropriately.
You can also drive the particle emission via a alpha or texture, but I’ve not done this before so I can’t advise on how to do it.
Consider performing a little more research on the particle system. What you want to achieve is achievable if the setup is done correctly.
when you say gaz - are you talking about a heat ripple type effect? I’ve seen this before but I don’t know how it’s done, I think it is done via a shader with an animated noise displacement and some reflect/refraction added in.
The particle system you linked to is more like an after burner effect. This is one of the most simple type of particle systems to setup.
The live training sessions just did a session working on particles. Might consider checking that out. It had some real cool useful information.
Also - checking the free assets from Unity and other particle asset packs on the store (free and paid) are a real great resource on seeing how different types of particle systems are setup.
Alternately - I think you might be looking for a shader effect - something like emission. This is something, besides just general knowledge, is beyond my knowledge base as an animator.
Look into emissive shader and see if that is something like you are talking about.
Sorry - I can’t be more help without more specifics. Keep posting - and someone will come along with more information on the specific subject you need help with, either particles or shaders.
Haha thank you guys that helping/teaching me a lot ! Btw vaka, the unitypackage you made is amazing. How do you do it? Is that just a prefab ?
I’ll first look at what theANMATOR2b said, and if I can’t find it I’ll try to “fake it”. I’m not good with animations and events so I kinda wanted to avoid them.
Thanks a lot, I’ll post again here if I have other questions !
I have made plane looking as your wings in the blender. Export it as fbx. Import in the Unity. Created new particle system and edited its shape to mesh. Then picked up the wings as mesh. You can try put this mesh in your project and do the same (maybe you should switch to 3d view and rotate it little as you need).
Here zipped .fbx, if you will try it, then unzip, drop in your project. Add particle system, go to shape and change mesh - triangle - meshwings. I am bad at blender, so you should make x*scale -1 from the particle system
Than You, I will have a look but I was using the wings.unitpackage you made previously !
I made something not half-bad. I made something with a flow of particle like I kinda wanted. The problem is that the particles don’t stop where the mesh ends but when they die with the life time. I was wondering if adding collision at the mesh edge + self destruct would solve the problem.
The problem with gravity is that the particle goes down as my maps are on the y axis… Even if I set up - gravity, the molecules will move on the y axis and I want them to move sideways
