Maybe some lights

This isn’t really suited to this forum section (or really this forum, since it’s not Unity related).

However, I’d add clutter, real houses aren’t neat, unless it’s a showroom. Add books, bowls of fruit, a coat on a hook, you know, normal things you’d find in a house.
Also consider light switches, plug sockets, light fittings, paintings on walls etc. Also colour, people don’t tend to live in bland places, I think most people would put a coat of paint on those walls, or a rug on the floor. No offence of course :stuck_out_tongue:

i thought this was the best place to ask as it has such a good comunity and this seemed like the best place

and thanks for your suggestion ill add some paintings and curtains ect

It’s not up to me, but those in charge seem to not like discussion of things that don’t relate to Unity. I’m all for it though, making games covers a broad range of topics, makes sense to be able to discuss it in one place. That said, the aesthetics of a house are not Game Design related, perhaps more suited for the Discussion or Works in Progress forum.

Keep us updated on your progress, always good to see the results of feedback

good point it never actually crossed my mind to add in lights :stuck_out_tongue:

Bake lighting

You need lighting and shadows. And, it’s in the wrong forum.

im using unity free so i cant do much with those

how do i do t

his?

You can do some really great stuff with custom shaders. You should look at the shader directory on the asset store. They probably have some good stuff for you. But, as everyone has stated before, put some clutter in your scene and work on your lighting a little bit. Have walls cast shadows, etc. If there are windows, find a great custom shader for making glass material and maybe put a sun outside shining through the window, etc.

Are you so sure? I don’t agree. And the answer is still the same: lighting and shadows.

it wont as the object as not static they have ridgidbodys and can be moved

At least bake the house. Last time I checked, your house doesn’t have feet.

You can set which objects will be baked and which objects won’t. You just have to be selective with picking. Are the walls destructable? Are you trying to do kind of a time-lapse scene in your house? If so, then baking isn’t an option. If not, then you should definitely bake them for two reasons. One, performance, and two, for quality.

I’ve got a recipe, that needs a name. It starts with a dev who rejects the combined wisdom of seasoned veterans. Then, for seasoning, it’s got a sprinkle of “Can’t” and “Won’t”. Looking for a name that doesn’t end in “ailure”.
