Make object transparent when shader is not supported on hardware

I know there is the fallback keyword to specify another shader when my specific shader is not supported, however, I was wondering if there was some default way of saying: When this shader doesn’t run, instead of making it pink, just make it transparent/turn off the renderer object.

What’s the typical approach here? I have some lighting effects, which are similar to blended particles, but basically, if blending doesn’t work, I can’t fallback to anything simpler, because it would just look broken, I’d rather render nothing in that case.

Then create a custom shader that outputs nothing (i.e. Blend Zero One) and specify that as the fallback.
