make particals float around a gameobject

i handpainted a sword in blender and now i want to add a partical effect where globes flow upwarts the sword shaft the problem for me is now when the rotation of the sword gets changed the globes still float upwarts on the Y axis

can i manipulate the gravity function of the particle system somehow or is there a different way to make the globes float upwarts the sword shaft ?
