Was curious to how many people actually use this as a base model for their characters? I have been playing around with it lately but want to know how viable it is in the development process.
I have never used it, ive seen it tho and i wouldent use that for any of my projects id rather just make my own and if i needed alot i would just make arms, legs, heads etc then make combinations. In short i would never use it, if your only a programmer and need models maby you could use it if you realy need them(use them as placeholder) but you could proboly just recruite a 3d artist.
i played with it long ago but cant remember if the models can be ported into maya, 3dmax or blender. if you can port to one say blender (assuming your using all free stuff that you can) then might be a good way to get basic model then tweak in blender. i have not seen it mentioned that you can port make human into unity so might be best to check on porting to blender first. and if you just need a basic model to start with check the free ones in asset area, or in the forums they may even have one you like enough to just use.
I found this on the forums, apparently you just port the model to blender, tweak it then chuck it into an engine: http://www.makehuman.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1796
depends on the engine and the file type they can use. so if make human does not make the file type unity can see it wont work. sorry but its that simple. so check (because i have not played with it in ages) to insure it can save in a file type that unity can see first
google is your friend just found this.
Searched: can unity 3d use make human files
http://www.makehuman.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1256
as i stated earlier and it shows here (only skimmed it) port make human model into blender then into unity.
that is just arrogant to post that. he never asked anything thus how can you make a prediction that he hasent already reserched that?
Its useful for a 3d artist to examine one way of doing human meshes, and its free. You can even take parts of it for your own use but you need to say in the credits of your project that you did so.
no its not, i googled it i provided what i googled and the link i found all on page one of google, as well as in make human forum. wasnt arrogant as i stated earlier i think you might have to take make human into blender to use it, and the thread proved it.
