hello unity forums I’m extremely new to unity. i don’t know any java script and was wondering if anyone could help me make a gui
if you go to unity3d.com, there to support, there to resources and there to example projects, you will find various projects with present scripts for UI etc that should help you understand how the OnGUI call etc work ![]()
and not knowing javascript is no problem.
Unityscript, the javascript alike language in unity, is different enough from the one used in webbrowsers that it wouldn’t have helped you for development, just save you time cause you know basic programming structures like loops and branches
thnks
After my question here (http://forum.unity3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=59130) I’ve decided to use C# as my base language.
But I still can’t find good documentation as Unityscript (js) have.
Can anyone tell me where do I find really good doc on C# for Unity? Mainly GUI docs.
Tx
One advantage of using C# is that it is a standard language and so there are books about it widely available. Most code is actually very similar between C# and JS, so you shouldn’t have too much trouble converting. The major differences are with declarations and a few Unity-friendly features that JS has but C# doesn’t. Also, Unity 3.0 will have code examples available in C# as well as JS to improve their clarity.
andeeee is right.
If you need to use Interfaces or Abstract classes, you can search for C# examples and sure you will find how to do it.
I suggest you try to learn some of the development basics, before dive into Unity.
greets!
