Hey, I downloaded Unity because I am interested in creating my own game. My friend has started making music and when I told him I wanted to start creating games using Unity he got really excited and wanted to make the music for the game. The problem is when I opened Unity I was so confused and the tutorials on youtube do not appeal to me at all. I am looking for someone who I could add on anything like Steam, Discord or Skype, as someone I could ask for help and teach me the basics etc. As in someone who wouldnt mind taking their time to help someone out thanks!
my Discord is hannes#0527 and my skype is aaameeehhh.
Start with the Learn section at the top of this page ![]()
Try using the collaboration forum here: Collaboration & Jobs - Unity Discussions
Post will need to be approved. Also, feel free to look at this section: Learn and perhaps consider visual scripting like Playmaker.
There is a lot to learn and you will never learn it all because a lot of the stuff doesn’t interest you. For example becoming a chef, you usually like to be interested in a narrow part of cookery like baking perhaps.
So here, you’ll be looking at learning only the things relevant to your game.
There’s also a public discord community for Unity Developers:
You can also continue to post on these forums. Just make sure you search google for your answers first, because 9/10 of your questions will have already been answered, I guarantee it.
Learning to develop games is largely a learn-by-doing process. You learn something on the internet, you go try to do it. You experiment, you try things, you get confused, you go back to the internet. Over time you’ll go to the internet less and less as you understand more.
Another tip that isn’t obvious: Skip tutorials which say they’re made for Unity versions earlier than the 5.x series. A little scripting and some settings have changed since 4.x. Everything about C# specifically and the latest documentation should all be current though.
