Making Unity wiki free to edit without requesting an account with CV / Resume

I was just going to post a breadth first search implementation of transform.GetComponentInChildren() to the unity wiki and realized you need to send a lot of information to Unity and wait for a response to get an account and create new pages. I’m just way too lazy to do that, besides I’m not really big on renewing my resume just so they will let me post useful stuff to their wiki. Surely there are better ways to prevent spam other than sending your resume. One idea might be to associate your wiki account with Unity Answers and/or Unity forums before being able to edit pages.

any thoughts on this?

I would prefer it to be stay more restrictive. I don’t believe it is moderated as closely, and having the contributors vetted first is much more preferable than relying on constant clean up. Less, quality content is better than deep sea of crap.

Post it here in the forums, or update your resume. No downside to keeping your resume update.

I agree it doesn’t get moderated as often and it is really hard to moderate a wiki, I had to take my game’s wiki down just because of this same reason. But on the other hand, it shows that asking too many documents from potential editors is not helping the wiki either. We are lucky if there are 2 new scripts every month at this rate. I think something should change about it, I don’t know what but UnityWiki is a very useful thing to have and it’s nowhere near it’s full potential atm.

Just send in your old resume along with a one-liner about your current job, which I assume would be the only change if you did update your resume, anyway. I presume it got you whatever job you now have, so it must be an ok resume, and anyone looking at it should reasonably understand it hasn’t been updated since you last looked for a job. You’re not interviewing for lead programmer at Valve, it’s just wiki access…

No!!

This for one thing would open it up to horrible code and every 12 year old that learned how to write an if statement.
