Hey everybody,
I’m a student designer working on a multiplayer VR game and I’ve run into a problem. Having just spent a week at GDC, I’ve realized that my game isn’t visually impressive enough to compete in the current market. I’ve taken it upon myself to start learning shaders, but I’m stumped as to how I can best use shaders and other effects to make a really impressive VR title.
We are looking at release on PC for the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive so I’m looking to get the most out of Unity and the available hardware.
This is what my most complete environment looks like today:
Note: Control panels are place-holder content
I’ve used a pretty great ambient occlusion script, amplify color and amplify shaders as well as Unity post-processing to get this environment to where it is. I’m looking for suggestions about how to take this environment to the next level visually.
I’m VERY new to shaders, so are there any specific ways I can use shaders to make this environment look better?
Any advice on post-processing?
Any advice on lighting?
I’m not asking for anyone to make my game for me, just some general guidance on getting the most out of VR hardware.
Thanks for any input!
