Material turns black if any other type but unlit is used

Hey peeps,

I’ve imported my scene and the material into unity, but im having a problem with the materials.

Whenever I want to make the material anything other than an unlit texture, it turns pitch black in the editor (within the previews it’s fine; darker, but not completely black)

any ideas what the problem may be? seems a mystery to me - but Im also not much a genius with textures & shading :stuck_out_tongue:

btw: Im using 3DS Max 2012, its a multi-material (in max) and the shader of each mat in max is phong. In case that is of any help :slight_smile:

Maybe your diffuse colors are set to black?
