Hi there.
After a lot of playing around with every value and layer, I can’t figure the problem at all.
I have two canvas windows, both should show the same particles (used as health indicator).
For that, I use two cameras (for two different zoom stages shown parallel). Both share the exact same settings except the culling mask. One of those two windows should show the silhouette of the player too.
My whole player character is set to the layer ‘PlayerRelated’, with some expections for filtering (as the particles and the silhouette).
The layer layout around the particles and silhouette is as following (colored after layers):

What I did:
- Created two materials (duplicated to make sure they have the same settings) and two render textures
- Assigned the specific render texture to the camera as target texture
- Assigned the render textures to the materials via script
- Back checked if the textures are assigned to the material => they are
- First camera should show the particles and the silhouette, culling mask: PlayerRelated, PlayerEffect, PlayerOptics
- Second camera should show only the particles, culling mask: PlayerRelated, PlayerEffect
- Assigned the material to the canvas image element
- Start runtime
- Check the render texture in the inspector => both show what they should
- Open both windows in runtime
10.1. => Window that should show particles and silhouette is showing that, good!
10.2. => Window that should show particles only is empty! - Assigned the material showing particles and silhouette to the particles only-window for testing:
11.1. => Both windows are showing particles and silhouette, so there is everythin alright with the canvas, no culling, etc - Removed the layer “PlayerOptics” from the particles and silhouette camera => everything is gone in both windows!
That means: the layer “PlayerOptics”, only assigned to the silhouette toggles the particles as well, even when the particles has the layer “PlayerEffect” instead.
Next to that, the camera that should only catch the particles seems to do that (as I can see in the inspector of the render texture while runtime), the texture is successfully assigned to the material (as checked by script), but is not showing up at the end. But another material with render texture with the same settings does.
What am I doing wrong?
Ps.: almost forgot: Happy Christmas everyone! ![]()
