Math / Physics sub-forum?

Hi,

Based on the threads openned every day, it would be useful to have a subforum for math/physics issues. Its the only one missing.

Since scripting subforum gets so many daily posts, it would help to maintain all subforums cleaner and better organized. Also it will be easier to look for old solutions to common problems in a “manual” search of the forum.

Just an idea.

Scripting and math may go hand in hand, But it would be great to seperate the posts asking for transform.Rotate and the posts asking how to find the relative position and then the LookRotation to transform.Rotate towards.

+(sin(10+x)(37-x^2)(-15+ x^(1/2)))^0

Sure why not! I could use a lot of help there anyhow.

I agree with the idea, it would be very useful, especially for beginners, to be exposed and have a place to ask questions related to math since we’re all basically using math in physics and calculating all sorts of things in our games

It defently isent the only one missing but it would be a good start

Comparing the amount of people in the unity community that have an advanced understanding of mathematics. Now I mean advanced, not simple vector mathematics. I am talking real world engineering, Newtonian physics, maybe even quantum for that. Even then embedding mathematical equations into programming is where a site like wolfram and scripting come in handy. It is a possibility but I can guarantee there will be a small population of people who can help each other, or understand the mathematics behind it.

Personally I don’t believe simple mathematics should have a forum, because it is just that, simple. It seems more of a selective approach rather then a requirement in projects.

Bah, Matamataks and this Physalis thing are both boring, let’s talk about which colours or games we like or dislike instead.

I agree if for no other reason than to help balance out the forum landing page. Something feels wrong when I look at asymmetrical menus.

I agree, we should have a spelling and grammar forum too!

+1 Here. Would love to see a place to discuss Math and Physics implemented in Unity.

Cheers

Let’s not forget about the use of vectors in those forums as well. This is kind of the backbone to true three-dimensional math, and should really be the big topic there.

With all these +1 comments, I’m pretty convinced that in actual fact, you do need a math forum because if you can’t add more than 1 at a time, you surely do need a lot of help. So there.

That’s why the multiplication got invented.

You are quite right.
