Max texture size?

Hello, I’m just wanting to know something simple. What is the maximum texture size per material for each platform.

I’m asking because I am looking into using blender as my regular 3d editor, and it has a projection painting system for painting on the 3d mesh directly. This will allow me, personally, hopefully, to create much more high definition textures for characters. Right now I kind of suck at UV mapping, and this would help a lot. BUT, I want to know what the best resolution to use would be. I know 2048 is pretty good quality, but I was wondering what I could push the limits to, as well as what I’d have to limit it to for things such as android/iphone. (For example, is 1024x1024 to big for mobile devices?)

I’m sorry if this is the wrong section, but this is the closest to what I think it would be. Thanks.

It depends on the graphics card. The first couple of iPhone generations are limited to 1024, recent desktop GPUs can do 8192 (though Unity is still limited to 4096).
